I thought for Mother's Day it would be yummy to have hamburgers however we do not have a grill. With summer coming (hopefully!), we thought it would be fun to get one to cook outside and enjoy the warm weather (and most importantly, cook the hamburgers). We didn't want to spend a ton, so I went to walmart and got us little propane grill and this is what it looked like.

There were pieces EVERYWHERE! It came in what seemed a million pieces with screws, washer things, etc. An hour later this was our end result...

This past weekend we were able to spend time with grandma and grandpa in their new home in the Wasatch Valley. It is so great to have more family close by and more opportunity to visit Dairy Keen for a Train Burger! Yum!

We thought that we would have opportunity to thaw out some from the winter weather however we woke up to snow Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Grandpa and Kevin were great with shoveling the sidewalk and scraping the cars off every morning.

Kevin and I dyed eggs (VERY carefully). We did not hide them Sunday morning because we were rushing to leave on time for conference, however, they were helpful to have for the potato salad for Easter dinner the following day.
Saturday evening while the men attended conference, the ladies went to Zuppa's in Salt Lake City. It is an amazingly yummy soup, sandwich, and salad place! It is now one of my new loves. According to grandma, they have the best soup spoons and you cannot find them anywhere else. I beg to differ.
Easter morning the family was able to attending the Sunday morning session of conference. I loved conference and Music and the Spoken Word. They were both AMAZING! Jan and her family were there as well but I think by the time we snapped the picture they were lost.
Sunday dinner was at the grandparents and we had gumbo and potato salad.
All in all it was a GREAT weekend!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Kevin's mom has always had something green for breakfast on St. Patrick's day whether is was pancakes, milk, etc. I had planned on keeping the tradition in the family and I thought it'd make things fun for us. Well, I have to be up and out the door everyday at 7am and it usually involves rushing around. Of course my plan did not work out and I had no time to create something edible and green. So I did it this morning.
This year.... green eggs and grits with biskets.

I must say that Sunday, February 7th, 2010 will be one of the best days of my life. I mean, getting married is wonderful and births and such... but the Saints winning the Superbowl goes right there with 'em!

I refused to watch this miraculous event in Idaho so we spent the weekend with my awesome Aunts and Louisiana friends in SLC. It was a black out event at Amber's which included ettoufee, jambalaya, boudin, king cake, and other wonderful foods full of calories, sugars, and fats. Instead of getting a yummy king cake shipped from Louisiana, I thought I'd attempt my first homemade king cake. Surprisingly, it wasn't as awful as I had anticipated it to be.
Thanks Mel and Danny for our box of treats! The cutter was just what we needed and everyone loved the wearing the beads. It deffinitly completed our wardrobe!

Thanks Amber for letting us party at your place! Hopefully your neighbors aren't too upset about the pots, pans and screaming in the front yard after the game :)

The Saints are going to the Superbowl!
This statement means a lot more to me than ya'll may know. When that final field goal was kicked, I cried. This is so exciting! It only makes me miss home even more. I'm so home sick here lately. Knowing that I'm missing out on king cake, parades, and all this Superbowl excitement bums me out. At least we will be celebrating among family and fans. Keni... hint, hint. If we can't be at the game, at least we can watch it on a huge screen with king cake shipped from Louisiana.

Tonight I called my dad and I believe the conversation with something like this:

ME: Dad, I am cajun woman!
DAD: Why?

ME: I smothered cabbage tonight and it was GOOD!

Well, we haven't blogged since Christmas, so I felt that we were due for an update. As much as I love home and being with my family, I surprisingly was okay with being back in Idaho. I guess being away from work, thinking about bills in my mailbox, and dust collecting on my furniture kinda made me want to get home and get back into our regular routine. Even though my home may not always appear to be the cleanest or neatest, things out of place or messy can drive me crazy. Ask Kevin. He has had to learn to fold towels and shirts the "right way". We've kept busy the last few weeks. Kevin is off-track this semester but is taking a few credits online and completing an internship. I've been working and enjoy having Kevin at home in the evenings with his new schedule.

We've discovered a new fun game, thanks to our neighbors, called Things. Perhaps it was the company that made the game so fun, but it is definitely on our list of things we would like to get. P.S. We miss you Mitch and Carrie!

We have been told that snow is in our forecast this week. We shall see about that. If we do happen to get snow, we both recently invested in snow pants. We're just gradually accumulating our winter gear and plan on attempting snow boarding within the next week or so. We will have to post pictures of our new adventure. Wish us luck! We're hoping for minor bumps and bruises.

We are also anxiously awaiting the big game this weekend, the Saints and the Vikings! WHO DAT!
